Polina Strogaia
I was born on March 8, 1998, in Saint Petersburg, Russia, into a family where art and science coexisted. My mother is a painter, my father a mathematician. Their contrasting worlds shaped me into someone both pragmatic and reckless, curious, searching, and unafraid of paradox.
My grandparents, Alisa Strogaia and Evgeny Shcherbakov, were soloists of the Mariinsky Ballet. They later worked as choreographers and teachers. Among my grandmother's students was Diana Vishneva. Together, they contributed to the development of ballet in Russia and internationally, working in South Korea, Japan, the United States, and Norway. Growing up, I spent much of my childhood behind the scenes of the Mariinsky Theatre, where I was introduced to the world of performance.
I graduated in 2020 from the Saint Petersburg State
Institute of Film and Television, where I studied acting
under Anna Alexakhina. In 2021, I continued my training with British casting director Manuel Puro (UK).
I have appeared in more than ten feature films, television series, and short films. My work includes leading and supporting roles in productions in Russia and internationally. Among them is the Italian short film “Un Uovo” by Federico Gatti, in which I played the lead role of Anita. My screen credits include “Ether” (2026, dir. Alexey Neymushev,
Alexander Sokurov Foundation), “Monochrome”(2025, dir. Olga Gorodetskaya, Lenfilm), and the Okko series “Seagulls-2” (2025, dir. Anton Sivers).
In 2025, I wrote, directed, and starred in my first short film, “REBIRTH” a mystical thriller exploring identity, transformation, and memory through dance and performance.
I continue to develop my practice as both an actress and filmmaker. I am currently developing my next short film and my debut feature-length project.
